As a Software Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in the success of the development team. This role will interface between the Development Team, the QA Team, the Product Management Team, and the business.
The Software Development Manager will monitor the progress of various projects and be proactive in identifying potential delays and submitting progress reports to the Division Manager.
Qualified candidates will be experienced in managing a team of developers, their day-to-day scheduling, and training software developers to follow a well-defined process. This includes development planning using JIRA, monitoring progress, rectifying, and remediating any potential delays in SDLC. Qualified candidates will have experience in planning to design, maintain or update software and web applications.
This role will need a strong influencer of iterative development and a coach and mentor who can lead the technical team and manage stakeholder expectations on building and managing applications built on various technologies.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Service Management – Software Development
- Project Management
Manage team development efforts towards successful iterative project delivery
Manage multiple streams of work with varied governing processes and reporting requirements
Ensure appropriate procedures and processes are followed with on-time delivery on projects
Monitor, evaluate, and ensure projects and task for delivery commitments and keep communication lines open and transparent on impediments or risk for on-time delivery
Refine requirements to translate them into functional specs
Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to collect and document project requirements, development of user stories, estimates and delivery schedules
Define and enforce well defined processes and standard to ensure quality in all tasks and documentation
- Software Development
Consume, understand, maintain, and enhance the automated CI\CD software deployment pipeline
Collaborate with other teams, managers and Management to plan, design, develop, and maintain software
Work in a fast-paced environment and be able to take a high-level concept and work with different teams to make it a reality
Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team and work with Management on opportunities to seek improvement in these areas
Package and support deployment of releases
Provide third-level support to business users. Research and evaluate a variety of software products
Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of software
- Technical Leadership
Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship
Define and communicate attainable goals to team members both project and career-focused
Human Resource Management
- Team Development
Take a lead for identifying, planning, and organizing technical training for subordinates to develop the professional competencies of employees to meet the requirements and potential development of the team in the direction of the corporation and the company.
Take a lead in identifying key positions and potential personnel to plan for training, develop the successors to meet the required resources for new projects, service expansion and promotion.
Take a lead for promoting the learning and sharing culture in the team and entire division
Take a lead for developing technical training program/interview materials within recruiting, coaching, evaluating, motivating and being accountability for development and succession planning of the on-site team.
- Performance Management
Based on the annual objectives, establish criteria for evaluation, monitoring, and feedback based on employee performance results by motivating and engaging employees to accomplish the team goals.
Take a lead in establishing criteria for evaluation, monitoring, and feedback based on employee performance results by motivating and engaging employees to accomplish the team goals.
Build emergencies list (potential resource risks), assess and manage to minimize the impact on the project.
Recruitment & Selection
Position Definition: Refine, define & present job roles, responsibilities, and qualifications for open positions.
Interview planning: Collaborate with internal team to design effective interview process, methodology & criteria for evaluation
Selection: Evaluate interview feedback, assessment results, and overall fit to make informed decisions on selecting candidates.
Onboarding Support: Collaborate to facilitate a smooth onboarding process for new hires.
Resource Management (Manpower, material, machines, method)
Coordinate with Division Managers and team to ensure the effectiveness of approved resource plan.
Build up a work assignment process including receiving, assigning, evaluating levels, agenda implementing, transferring, managing performance and post-transfer period to save time effectively of whole team service.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar technical related field or relevant experience
Certification
PMP is preferable
Experience
- Demonstrates exceptional motivation, innate entrepreneurial instincts, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Has 8+ years of experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in engineering and architecture with hands-on experience in full-stack development, design, and architecture;
- Has 4+ years of managing and leading a team of developers (onshore and offshore)
- Hands-on technical experience with architecting and building large-scale, highly available production-level consumer applications.
- Have a strong sense of Security
- Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies and principles
- Proven experience of working with the legacy codebase.
- Significant knowledge and experience with various development practices, programming languages, technologies.
- Ability to work with multiple levels of the organization with key stakeholders.
- Experience in a variety of software development approaches and methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
- Experience in people management and the ability to lead and influence others
- Experience in requirements capture, analysis techniques, and process improvement approaches
- Experience in managing code and change management processes
- Experience with IT Service Management (e.g. Release Management) and experience with using Service Now or similar.
